Abstract

A circular knitting machine for producing a pile fabric has situated around the needle cylinder a series of feed devices which feed fibre laps into the needles so that the fibres are incorporated into a base knit formed by the needles. The feed devices are all driven by a common mechanism including a speed control device so that the speed of operation of all of the feed devices is maintained in synchronism. The machine is used partic. for making synthetic furs. The arrangement ensures that all of the feed devices act in synchronism and their speed of operation can be easily changed.
