Abstract
Terminal connectors for optical fibres, which are used for transmitting light energy from a light source such as a semiconductor laser to a light receiver such as a photo-diode. The end of one of the fibres to be connected is fitted with a swivel coupling (7). The end (8) of the optical fibre is pushed through a hole and extends to a point flush with the end of the joint. The two ends are then fixed with an adhesive material (9) which is injected from the rear of the joint. A nipple nut (10) is then screwed over the swivel joint which then engages another nipple nut (11). The second optical fibre fits into the second nut from the opposite side and the joint is tightened via an outer and inner collar (12, 13).
