Abstract

The multi-purpose lighting unit gives direct and indirect illumination with independent variable-angle lamps. It has a fixed mounting supporting variable-angle housings and incandescent lamps mounted on ball-and socket joints. There can be fluorescent tubes on external variable-angle reflectors to give upper and indirect illumination, and also at lower fixed points to give a central direct lighting via a screen. The direct incandescent lamps can be mounted in globes tilting through between 3 deg. and 120 deg., between ball-and-socket mountings. The globes can be mounted on a transverse spindle supported by a fork fixed to a shaft forming a lengthwise pivot axis, and counterbalanced by a return spring.
