Abstract

The double glazing conversion frame has an extruded alloy metal section with a channel whose sides run parallel to existing wooden frame (6). A plastic insert with shaped walls grips the glass pane (15) within the channel. Longitudinal grooves in the side of the flange adjacent to the wooden frame carries plastic seals between that flange and the wooden frame. Spring clips (33) screwed to the wooden frane fix the two frames together and the connection is made firm by a plate slides behind the lips of the spring clips. The plate is screwed tight against the metal frame from the outside. A recess (20a) carries a beading (29) to hide the clamping screws.
