Abstract

The container has a section (b) beneath it containing agitators (c) and through which passes a conveyor screw (d) with a suitable drive (e). The screw is of varying pitch (d1, d2, d3), and a movable tube (f) can be positioned to cover the screw to a greater or lesser degree, so controlling the flow rate. An alternative form uses a conveyor screw formed from a helical spring. Its pitch is uniform along its length, but can be varied by compressing or extending the spring. The spring is retained between end stops on a central shaft, and the material is discharged through a hole in the side of the exit tube.
