Abstract
Trace element concentrate for incorporating in animal feeds, comprises a granulated heavy mineral substance with the granules enveloped in an active polyhydric alcohol binder and the binder layer contains a mixture of trace minerals. The heavy mineral substance is pref. monocalcium phosphate of particle size 0.5-2 mm. The trace minerals are pref. below 0.15 mm particle size and represent 5-35%, partic. 5-25% of the concentrate. The binder is pref. sorbitol as 2-10% of the concentrate. Used for feeding elements such as Co, Cu, Mn, Mg, Zn and I to cattle or Fe and S to horses and pigs. The preparation avoids dust and also provides a homogeneous mixture which is stable to storage, not separating as in other methods.
