Abstract

The first part of the seat consists of the seat proper fixing means to a standard vehicle seat and the rear part of the sides. This is linked by means of a wavy metal rod which acts as the energy absorber to the second part consisting of the front part of the sides and a belt passing between the two sides at chest level. Thus in the event of sharp deceleration the energy absorbers prevent an initial high force being applied to the child. The seat material is rigid polyurethane foam with a density of 0.1-0.2.
