Abstract
The radiographic apparatus has an annular housing (21) into which the patient can be slid through a central opening. A penetrating radiation source and corresponding detector are arranged so that the detector receives the radiation after penetrating the patient's body. The housing rotates to provide a series of radiographs. The perimeter of the housing (21) is provided with a large number of radial slits (28) whilst a drive member (30), rotating about an axis parallel to the rotational axes of the housing is powered and programmed so that the drive member (30) enters one of the slits (28) causing the housing to rotate. It then disengages and enters the next slit rotated into position.
