Abstract

Benzocycloheptathiophene derivs. of formula (I) (where R1 is H, 1-6C alkyl, 4-6C cycloalkyl, 2-5C hydroxyalkyl (the OH group being separated from N by at least 2 C-atoms), 3-5C oxoalkyl (the carbonyl group being separated from N by at least 1 C-atom), (2-7C alkan yloxy)-(2-5C alkyl) (the alkanoyloxy group being separated from N by at least 2 C-atoms), or (1-4C alkoxy)-(3-6C carbonylalkyl)(the carbonyl group being separated from N by at least one C-atom); R2 is H, Cl or 1-4C alkyl; and R3 is H, 1-4C alkyl, Cl or Br; not more than 2 of R1, R2 and R3 being H), e.g. 1-(4H-benzo)4,5/cyclohepta/1,2-b/thiophen-10-yl)-4-methylpiperazi- ne, and their acid addn. salts are new. Used as neuroleptics, e.g. in the treatment of psychotic disorders.
