Abstract

Granulation of fusible materials (I) passing the molten material in the form of spherical particles successively through a cooling medium present in the vapour phase and in the liq. phase respectively in a closed vessel and having a temp. in the liq. phase below the m.pt. of the material (I), is improved by (a) allowing the molten droplets to fall through a gas layer, e.g. air, of (height 2-50 cm, which is inert towards (I) and is situated above a liq. cooling medium column of height pre-determined experimentally as a function of (I) and its solidifying temp., (b) withdrawing, the solidified granulate, and (c) slightly emulsifying the cooling liq.
