Abstract

The machine comprises a charging hopper and an electric motor and gearbox driving two parallel shafts equipped with cutting discs and rotating into each other to form a shredding stage. The refuse falls into a duct (28) underneath and onto beaters spaced along a shaft (33) driven by a motor. These beaters are blades (34) having curved leading edges, the trailing edges being straight. Adjacent blades are staggered 10 deg. progressively along the shaft, and the blades pass between fixed blades (36) on the duct. The material passes through the beaters and is compacted along a smaller horizontal chute (29) and into a container, the material passing along a lower curved wall (52) joining the duct (28) and the chute (29).
