Abstract

2-Ethylhexyl acetoxystearates of formula (I) are new: (where n=5-8, pref. 5 or 8). (I) are esp. useful as carriers in dermatological prepns., in which they can be used to replace perhydrosqualene oils. (I) can be prepd. by esterifying a hydroxystearic acid with 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and acetylating the resulting ester with acetic anhydride.
