Abstract

Plant for contacting a liquid with a gas tream consists of a liquid distributor, a contact packing and a shaft or tower for the gas flow. Between the contact packing and the gas inlet are located noise suppression elements. These are arranged so as to have >=2 rows one above the other, one row being uniformly offset from the other and arranged parallel to each other. All rows are parallel, the elements have a constant spacing and a uniform inclination to the vertical. Adjoining rows can be alternately inclined. Is esp. of use on water cooling towers. The noise of the falling water can exceed desirable limits and the use of the elements described reduces this to an acceptable level.
