Abstract

Aqs. compsn. for coating paper and cardboard contains n dispersion (I) a binder, and (II) a pigment of which 5-30 wt.% consist of a synthetic polymer with a particle size of 0.05-0.30 mu, these particles being insoluble in the binder and non-film-forming in the conditions of application and finishing of the coating. Compsn. is strongly adherent to paper and gives high gloss. Coated papers have good resistance to tearing under wet and dry conditions.
