Abstract

Floating cover the tanks contg. petroleum products, is formed by a number of similar shaped, for example rectangular, sections floating on the surface and attached together. Each section consists of a top surface, a bottom surface and vertical sides. The structure is braced by angled cross-pieces. The sides extends below the level of the bottom surface, and have a number of holes cut in them. The sections are welded and bolted together. A corner is recessed to form rain-water channels, the channels being connected to an escape channel. Each section has stands to support it when the tank is empty.
