Abstract

A monorail suspension carriage has two blocks, one ahead of the other, each with a pair of wheels (18, 19) which travel along two inwardly curved flanges of teh suspension rail. A block suspended from connecting plates (25) extending below each wheel block supports the load carrier arm (38). Each upper block carried by a double conical bearing housing contains a set of ball bearings, the conical shape preventing sideways swing of the load carrier arm (38). This housing is secured by a screw (6) through each end of the block, and the wheel spindle passes through the inner race of the ball bearing. Various methods of locating the double cone axially include a circlip mounted in each sloping face acting as a spacer, or a flexible triangular section packing ring.
