Abstract

The lens may be stabilised by a single or double truncation, a ballast prism (prism with internal base) or a ballast prism in conjunction with a single or double truncation. The rear surface may be toroidal while the front surface is spherical, or vice versa, or both surfaces may be toroidal. The front surface may be bifocal while the rear surface is toroidal or the front surface may be spherical while the toroidal rear surface is bifocal. The toroidal surface of the corner is matched to the lens in order to correct astigmatism.
