Abstract

Reciprocating engine has the cylinder head, the upper crankcase and the apparatus-carrier cast as a single piece ending above the crankshaft bearings which are flanged onto it in the form of individual bearing blocks. The surface area of the main bearings is equal to or less than 100% of that of the big end bearings, and is not broken by oil ways in the main stress areas. The valves are driven by push rods, and rocker arms which have a stroke-increasing transmission ratio. A regulator controlled by partial pressure in the intake, does not control idling speed or include a throttle valve which is effective at low speed.
