Abstract

A steel pylon used for masts for aerials lighting etc. consists of a certain number of prefabricated sections, each one with tubular uprights (1) with assembly plates or collars (2) at the ends in which are holes for attaching to the sections above and below. These uprights (1) are linked by struts (3) which are welded to the uprights at each end (4) and form a ladder. Diagonal braces (5a, 5b) are also welded to the uprights. When the pylon is assembled, the bracing forms a zig-zag pattern which combined with the struts (3) gives a completely rigid structure, which is also light and easy to erect.
