Abstract

The brake has a fixed casing formed in part by the magnetisable elements of a stationary magnetic circuit interrupted by an annular air gap, and with a rotor fixed to the shaft to be braked, rotating coaxially relative to the fixed casing, to complete the stator circuit. An annular excitation coil is fixed to the stator, coaxial with the rotor for inducing a magnetic flux in the magnetic brake circuit. Each of the stator poles (7), which are arranged in a ring facing the rotor poles (23), carries an inductive coil (8) connected in series or parallel, and connected to the inputs of a rectifier circuit, also including current regulating elements, with the outputs of this circuit connected to the excitation winding (5) of the brake.
