Abstract
A heat exchanger installed in the chimney of a water boiler or heating stove, designed to use the waste heat from the hot gases passing through the chimney to heat up water, has a cylindrical casing (5) surrounding a vertical set of heat exchanger tubes (6) with an upper distribution chamber (1) with a smoke outlet, and a similar lower distribution chamber (10) with a smoke inlet, the tubes being attached to an upper (2) and lower (7) plate with seals (3, 8) which are clamped between flanges on the two chambers and the casing (5). The space between the upper and lower plates, enclosed by the casing (5) forms a water tank, the water immersing the tube bundle (6), and a water outlet (12) is at the top, and an outlet (11) at the bottom.
