Abstract

The quick release clamping mechanism includes a shaft in which a tension or compression is to be produced to bring about a clamping action, a detent means for locking the shaft axially, and clamping means associated with the shaft for producing the tension or compression in the shaft, in which the detent means include a wedge-shaped engaging member acting against the saaft and the shaft is disengageable from the wedge-shaped engaging member by limited rotational movement of the shaft relative to the member.
