Abstract
The polariser is capable of handling a mean power of 10kw at frequencies in the 3.7 to 6.425 GHz range, converting a circular polarised wave to a linear form or vice-versa and is applicable particularly for ground to satellite transmission. The polariser has a dielectric leaf type (10) of beryllium oxide, the dielectric having a high thermal conductivity, and can dissipate up to about 100w. It is in the form of two sintered half leaves held by an iron-nickel-molybdenum alloy insert in the waveguide walls to increase heat dissipation through to the guide outer surface which is slotted to provide a greater cooling area. The leaf has tapering ends (13) and a contour which contains points of inflection.
