Abstract

The hull is fitted with an array of thrust turbines which pump water and/or air down a series of ducts moulded into concave, half cylindrical grooves which run downwards towards the stern, from the bows. The hull is fitted with delta shaped planes on either side, under the waterline to give increased stability at higher speeds. The thrust grooves are fitted between two vertical bulkheads with the shape filled out by plastic foam. At higher speeds the bows lift out of the water, leaving only the stern to aquaplane. For normal harbour movements a conventional screw is provided. The high speed hull is simple to assembly from prefabricated sections.
