Abstract

Catalyst consists of a metal substrate provided with a surface layer, pref. of Al2O3, which is compatible with catalyst material, pref. Pt, and is coated with catalytic material consisting mainly of a non-agglomerated atomised dispersion. Pref. substrate consists of an Al-contg. ferritic steel (I) contg. by wt., 15% Cr, 0.5-12% Al, 0.1-3% Y, bal, Fe, which is heat-treated in air to form an Al2O3 layer. The catalyst has resistance to repeated heat-cycles during catalyst life. Al2O3 film on (I) is stable and adhering, and (I) resists impact and breakage at high temps.
