Abstract

The unit comprises a porous storage element which is loaded with a soln. of an actively volatile agent and housed in a case so that it contacts one side of a diffusion barrier of which the other side communicates with a space to be purified, e.g. via an aperture in the case, the diffusion barrier being more avid for the solution than is the element. The unit is suitable for purifying, deodorising, freshening and disinfecting the air or living quarters, restaurants, public places etc. The storage element can be of fibrous wood, paper, leather or poromerics and the diffusion barrier may be a macromolecular, microporous film of polypropylene or polyurethane.
