Abstract

The rotor is triangular in form with curvilinear sides and rotates inside a stator having four sides. The curved surfaces of the stator are hypo-cycloids generated by a point on a circle rolling on the inside of a second circle of three times the diameter. The centre of gravity G of the rotor is eccentric to the shaft centre so that as the rotor rolls inside the stator the tips are always in contact with the stator sides but the centre of gravity rotates in the opposite direction to the shaft. Two rotors at 180 deg. to each other are mounted on the shaft to provide 12 cycles of a four stroke cycle every revolution.
