Abstract

Motor fuels contg. small amts. of a benzyl polyamine of formula Z-NH-(CnH2nNR)a-(CnH2nNR)b-CnH2NH-Z, (in which Z is an alkyl- and hydroxy-substd. benzyl gp. contg. 50-1000C alkyl substits. at least 60% of which are in p-posn. to the OH gp; n is 2-3; r is hydrogen or as Z; a and b are 0-5 and a + b is 0-5), have excellent carburettor cleaning, rust-protection and anti-icing action together with prevention of deposits in the suction pipes where the fuel is rapidly vapourised by contact with hot metal to assist cold-starting, are obtained with a single additive.
