Abstract

The structure supports a large-area covering without internal encumbrances such as columns or supporting walls, using metal framework assemblies only along the outer perimeter and cables under tension as longitudinal supports. There is gantry at each end, together with one or more arches dependent on the dimensions. The gantries and arches can be assemblies of steel angle, assembled into pillars and beams. The gantries can be joined by parallel cables stretched between them and acting as purlins, these cables being also supported by arches. The cable pitch is a function of the cladding components used. The cables can be assembled on the outside of the gantries and secured to one or more ground anchor points.
