Abstract

The parachute is attached to the harness by two pairs of elevator straps (6) and (7) which are in turn fixed to the release mechanism (2). A second pair of elevator straps are fixed at their lower ends to the parachutist's shoulder straps. On reaching the ground the parachutist releases the elevator straps (6) and (7) by the mechanisms (2) but the parachute is still held by the cords (9) and straps (10). This prevents the wind from filling the parachute and dragging the parachutist along the ground. He can then release the elevator straps (10) and retrieve the parachute. The invention is useful for both sporting and military purposes.
