Abstract

Construction material comprises a core of compressed, non-burning cellulosic material and two exterior incombustible sheets. e.g. of ceramic, slate or metal, which are firmly bonded to the core material by a strong, rapidly-hardening adhesive, which is virtually unaffected by extreme temps. and solvents. The adhesive is pref. based on unsatd. polyester resin. The material is suited to the mfr. of fixed or mobile, flat, curved or irregular panels of all sizes, insulated construction materials, stairways and boat hulls. The sandwich materials have great mechanical strength, absolute dimensional stability, high heat and flame resistance, complete resistant to water and a high resistance to solvents, e.g. acetone, acetates, sulphuric, nitric, hydrochloric and acetic acids, ethanol, petrol, ammonia, CCl4 and sodium hydroxide.
