Abstract

On opening on e.g. the roof of a building to permit the escape of smoke in the event of a fire, which may be connected with an automatic release system, has a frame round the opening, supporting a hinged flap, with a set of hinges between the frame and the opening, and with a release device on the opposite side of the flap which cooperates with a special interlocking device. This release device pivots an angle of 90 deg. from its engaged position. The release device is typically an arm secured to the frame.
