Abstract
A vapour separator, esp. for radioactive vapours, comprises, in the Parent Patent, two gps. of vertical undulating plates constituting a separator with an agglomerator between them. Above this is a purification unit or cleaning nozzles. In the Patent of Addition, there are two such sets each comprising a pair of undulating plate gps. and an agglomerator. The sets are one above another. There is pref. a sieve floor or bubble tray and/or demister between them. The separator is used for removing gaseous, water-soluble contaminants and acid-forming substances from nuclear plant effluent. The degree of purification obtained by the Parent Patent, of 10-8, is increased to 10-9.
