Abstract

Administration method and device for a therapeutic agent, for the prevention and treatment of vaginal infections, in which the agent and a hygienic plug of absorbent matl. are placed separately and successively in the vaginal cavity. The device comprises an injection cylinder, one end of which constitutes the tip; this has rounded edges so that it will not injure the region to be treated. The piston has an internal cavity. The hygienic plug is contained in the cylinder and is fitted with a withdrawal thread which passes through the cavity in the piston. The therapeutic agent, in tablet form, is secured by friction at. the agent may be in powder form; in this case it is kept in posn. by a lid which itself may be therapeutically active. The device allows a more efficient contact between the agent and the mucous membrane to be treated while the plug has better absorption props. as it has not been pre-treated with the agent.
