Abstract

The refractory combustion chamber consists of two parts. One part is formed into three sides of a square, forming a 'U' shaped on its side and the second part closes the rectangular chamber with a flat slab. The three sided part has a metal core. The metal consists of a perforated plate fixed to a wire framework. The framework is extended to form fixing lugs. The chamber is manufactured by immersing the metal parts in a liquid bearing the fibrous material. The liquid is pumped round in such a way that the flow is through the metal perforations. The metal becomes coated overall with the fibres which are then baked on to form a rigid box.
