Abstract

The cylindrical plastic body (1) supports a cruciform structure (7) which coaxially locates the mobile steel valve plate (5). A plastic insert (2) forms a seal (4) for th evalve and provides support arms (10, 11) for the adjustable, externally threaded, magnet carrier (12). The magnet (13) may be adjusted relative to the plate turning the carrier. When inlet pressure is less than or only slightly exceeds delivery (6) pressure, the valve remains closed. Higher inlet pressures overcome the magnetic attraction and open the valve, but because the attraction reduces as the gap between plate and magnet increases, the valve does not close again until inlet pressure falls below the value which causes the valve to open. Continual opening and closing for small pressure fluctuations is thereby avoided.
