Abstract

Container for centrifuging samples, has a neck ending at its lower end in a downward-divergent outer wall of frustoconical shape, and with an upward-convergent inner wall of also frusto-conical shape, connected at its lower end to that of the outer wall, forming an annular space between the walls, with a barrier in it. Pref. the barrier completely blocks the space and extends from the lower to the upper end. The two walls are at a uniform mutual spacing from the bottom to top of the annular space. The neck is cylindrical. There may be additional barrier(s) in the annular space. A circular circulation of the flow medium relative to the container is prevented, to prevent remixing during deceleration, and to shorten the deceleration time.
