Abstract

The sections have inclined side webs which have series of teeth along them such that the sections are correctly positioned by interengagement of the teeth. The teeth are triangular with a step length of between 50 and 150mm and have their faces inclined at 45 deg. to the direction of the joint to improve load transmission. The teeth have rounded tips to facilitate removal of the sections from moulds. The upper and lower decks of the sections typically have single interengaging tongues and grooves. Positioning is improved by pins on the upper deck. The ends of the teeth may stop short of the edges of the webs and be rounded so that a straight external junction line is formed.
