Abstract
The output in drops per minute is extrapolated from the period separating two consecutive drops, typically by using an opto-electronic device to detect the drops. The time separating the drops can be measured by counting the impulses from an internal clock. A calculator unit can be used to determine the rate per minute, altering it as necessary with each drop. The opto-electronic device (1) does not contaminate the perfusion equipment and the resulting output signal is compared with a pre-programmed value and andy discrepancy is used to adjust the device (6) controlling the flow area of the perfusion tube.
