Abstract

A device for direct heating of food, designed for open air use, is made of refractory material, e.g. clay, and has an outer wall (1) with a hole (2) in the side for combustion air and an inner bowl shaped wall supported above the base on a collar (5) with a cut-out (6) so that this combustion air can circulate between the walls and also pass upwards inside the bowl. This circulation is assisted by a set of holes (8, 9, 10) through the curved wall of the bowl. The design is intended to ensure even combustion without burning the food. A plug (3) is supplied to close the air feed hole in the outer wall, and ribs are incorporated inside the top of the bowl.
