Abstract

A medical face mask of the type consisting of one or more layers of non woven material, and which has two double folds running longitudinally to give a pocket (7) between the folds, and forming a rectangle, has a hem (3, 4) or other suitably strengthened edge around the four sides, and its tying tapes (2) are extensions of the long sides, thus giving a stronger construction than conventional masks, being parallel to the pull on the tapes when secured in position, requiring tension on the tapes. A metal wire reinforcement (6) can be incorporated in the hem along the long sides, shorter in length than those sides.
