Abstract

The container is an upright cylinder whose open upper end has an outwardly extending shoulder ending in an upwardly facing lip. The split ring is placed within the lip and presses the edge of a paper or plastic sack outwardly against the inner surface of the lip. The sacks have openings near their upper edges which aids the evacuation of air from sack when removed from the container. The container may have a lid operated by a conventional pedal arrangement. The sacks ends fold over the edge of the lip and hang outside the container so that refuse does not penetrate between container and sack.
