Abstract

The mastics contain (a) finely divided fillers, (b) 4-20 wt. % (on a) of liquid polybutenes with a viscosity of 5-20000 SUS at 99 degrees C and (c) 2-15 wt. % esp. 5-8 wt. % (on a) of metal salts of fatty acids with a low solubility in water a m. p. of >=100 degrees C, in finely divided form. The mastics have good storage properties and are esp. useful e. g. in cars for sealing glass. The mastics are not softened by water and have better resistance to elevated temps. than known mastics of this type. The filler may be e. g. of chalk, calcite, dolomite, asbestos, talc. montmorillonite, alkaline earth sulphates, silica etc. pref. with a particle size of 2-50 micron. The fillers may be treated e. g. with fatty amines or fatty acids to facilitate incorporation into the polybutene.
