Abstract

The rigid impermeable body of the frame, has an intermediate floor composed of porous slabs on which the growing medium e.g., compost, vermiculite lies. Below this floor is a chamber containing water in direct or capillary connection with the compost through the porous slabs, the water level being maintained at the required height. A transparent curved roof covers the frame. The water can be heated by an electrical element which results in the control of soil temperature, and can also be completely drained from the chamber. Means can also be provided for controlling air humidity and temperature.
