Abstract

Mechanical floor brush has horizontal disc brushes, rotatable about a vertical axis(18) thus facilitating wall floor angle sweeping and via a simple clutch able to continue rotating when stationary against a wall. The sweeper comprises the normal mobile casing pushed via a pivoting rod handle and contg. main axially horizontal roller brushes(3); disc brushes(17, 23) locate either side of and are driven by a main roller via angle pinions(21, 22) and an overhead shaft; an inner pinion(24) on this latter linking to the main drive(6) via a third intermediary mobile pinion(25). The mobile pinion disengages when a connected externally projecting axially sprung(31) push rod(26, 27) etc. encounters a wall and vice versa.
