Abstract

The push button operates the switch by moving a window into the path of a light beam which is normally broken, the movement being caused by a push button. The light source can be a photo-emissive diode running off a low voltage and the light receptor may be a photo-sensitive resistor placed in the bias network of a transistor switching circuit such as a Schmidt trigger. The mechanical and transistor components are mounted either singly or as a set of switches in a box and are unaffected by vitration and magnetic disturbances, giving electrically noiseless switching.
