Abstract

Distribution device for simultaneously depositing a multiplicity of discs or plates (e.g. antibiotic sensitivity discs) in a predetermined configuration on the surface of a gelled medium has (a) a base with an upper surface and a lower surface with a multiplicity of suitably disposed discharge channels extending between the upper and lower surfaces; (b) a tube-carrier block with a corresponding multiplicity of receptacles for tubes contg. the discs or plates and a multiplicity of guide borings, the block having a suitable base surface which cooperates with the upper surface of the base so that relative displacement of the base surface of the block parallel to the upper surface of the base extracts a disc or plate from the bottom of each of the tubes and positions each disc or plate at the upper end of a corresponding discharge channel; (c) a multiplicity of discharge pistons slideably mounted in the guide borings; and (d) axially movable driving means disposed perpendicular to the upper surface of the base and linked kinematically with the tube-carrier block and the discharge channels so as to permit successive relative displacement of the tube carrier block and penetration of the discharge channels by the discharge pistons. The device is described in detail in the specification with reference to a number of drawings.
