Abstract

The measuring instrument comprises a wheel geared to a counter to measure distance with an accuracy greater then meters attached to speedometer drives or attached to vehicle wheels. REversible mounting plates permit it to be attached to flat or tubular bumpers and an articulated arm ensures firm attachment to the mounting system. A tension spring ensures that the wheel is firmly pressed onto the ground. An articulated fork. is attached to the articulated arm to permit vertical and horizontal displacement ensuring that the wheel follows the surface contour and vehicle path. The wheel is geared to a counter reading in centimetres and metres. It has a reset to zero lever and subtracts distance when reversed.
