Abstract

Treatment of flexible metal tubes comprising interlocking cooperating parts sliding one within the other to provide the desired flexibility e.g. for connecting the exhaust manifold of an internal combustion engine with a rigid exhaust pipe, and to avoid premature failure, particularly by seizure at the high temperature and by vibration and repeated twisting, using a reagent which leave chemical and/or physical impurities on the interlocking parts. More especially the impurities are cpds. of a metalloid, particularly S, Cl2, N2, P, O2 or C.
