Abstract

Composite panels with a core of resin bonded particle board covered on both faces with a layer of wood and a water-proof skin for mfr. of cladding or moulds for contg. fresh cement or concrete. Pref. each surface comprises two layers of wood veneer with cross plied grains and a skin of paper impregnated with crosslinked phenolic resin. Panels may be made by superposition of the component layers for a single hot press lamination. The surface veneers enhance the stiffness and shear strength of theotherwise inadequate particle board core. The waterproof surface facilitates panel release for re-use and does not starve the cement surface of water as timber shuttering does.
